At this point Nate was working for 100% commission for a Brand Partnering company. It was a start up venture and had as many fun opportunities as it did scary ones. Unfortunately, none of the deals that they were working on were closing out and they could not come to terms on salary and commission. He ultimately had to walk away and leave it all on the table.
I prayed during this opportunity one morning, “Lord, let Nate see the fruits of his labor.” His reply was quick and easy to my heart and said,
“You think fruit is monetary. I give fruits of the Spirit.” I spent the next week doing research on the fruits of the Spirit. Love; Joy; Peace; Kindness; Goodness; Faithfulness; Gentleness; and Self Control.
In March, Will got an abscess on his tooth. We needed an emergency doctor appointment. I prayed, “Lord, please direct me to where we need to go. Help me find a place that we can afford.” As I desperately called around nothing was panning out. And then my phone rang. It was a lady from one of the previous offices I called. She said, “When I hung up with you a thought popped into my mind. There is a place in down town Nashville called Interfaith Dental. I believe they can help you.”
As I walked away from that dental appointment I realized that I was seeing Matthew 25: 40 – 46 lived out. It says, “The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’ “Then He will also say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels; for I was hungry, and you gave Me nothing to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me nothing to drink; I was a stranger, and you did not invite Me in; naked, and you did not clothe Me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit Me.’ “Then they themselves also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not take care of You?’ “Then He will answer them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ “These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
